Everyone wants to serve foster kids, but sometimes it's hard to know how. There are many ways to serve in Compelled to Care. You can serve at large events, write encouraging cards or even help organize gift drives for foster kids and help organize donations.

We are a team of speakers, breakout sessions leaders and artists who are imperfect women who are being restored by Jesus. We are foster, adoptive, kinship moms and women who advocate for vulnerable children.

Lisa Barnes
Captain Lisa Barnes is a Pastor, Author, and International Speaker who came to The Salvation Army as her church home in Gresham Oregon through a food box as her mother was caught in the grip of addiction.
Lisa is passionate about Social Justice, loving those in the margins, fully being herself, while living and sharing Jesus. She has ministered in Portland Oregon, San Francisco, and Salinas California. In her last appointment, she lived in Phoenix Arizona with responsibilities over Arizona, New Mexico, and part of Nevada for youth, young adult, and camping ministries.
Three and a half years ago, she started her new appointment as a Corps Officer/ Pastor in the Seatle White Center neighborhood. It is a community crippled by poverty and addiction. If Lisa could serve in any capacity- this is the type that she would choose.
She has her Bachelor’s degree in Counseling for Christian Ministries, and is a graduate of the Arrow Leadership Program. She loves art; both in creating it and enjoy others creations. Lisa loves playing bass and acoustic guitar, and drinking way too much coffee while visiting with friends. She’s been married to her handsome best friend for fifteen years. They live life with their two beautiful beige babies Little Anthony- 15, and Hurricane Leilah-7, their ten year old fat cat, and their three year old German Shepherd.
Lisa also is the author of a book called Love to a Whore's Daughter; Life and Faith Through the Lens of Grace and Redemption. (Available for free eDownload from NewFrontierPress.org) She also wrote a guided journal called BRAVE; Thoughts and Acts. This is part of an empowerment program for girls in foster care. This is a preventative effort to combat the correlation between girls in foster care and girls who are trafficked into the domestic sex industry.
Ashley wambach
Ashley is the President/Executive Director of Compelled to Care, the faith-based foster, adoptive & kinship ministry that began at Evergreen Christian Community in Olympia, WA. Compelled to Care began as a small support dinner and grew into a ministry that has served hundreds of families through monthly dinners, trainings and large events like the Restore Retreat. Compelled to Care launched The Care Box Project in 2019 which serves foster kids who first come into care in 5 counties. She also leads on the We Foster WA Initiative which is a team of leaders from private foster care agencies and organizations that serve the foster community. She has spoken at events, taught multiple classes and trainings and has also sat on panels regarding the future of orphan care ministry. She has been married to Nick for 13 years. Together they are raising 6 children under 9 years old.
Cyndi pollard
Cyndi specializes in inspiring courage. She helps people see the “Masterpiece” they are
(Ephesians 2:10) and realize that they are made for greatness. Cyndi’s success has crossed boundaries from education to ministry, customer service, and corporate America. She has spent over twenty years coaching, teaching and encouraging groups that range in size from 10 to 2500. She has been the keynote speaker for Women’s Retreats, Conferences, Churches and Future Business Leaders of America. Cyndi graduated from LIFE Pacific College, is an ordained minister, serves on the Directional Team at Evergreen Christian Community, as the Associate Pastor of Discipleship,
co-leads the ECC Women’s Ministry Team, is on the WFIS Board of Directors and is on the Pursuit Church Live leadership team. Cyndi and her husband Dennis are adoptive parents who have raised their beautiful daughter into adulthood who currently lives in Austin, TX.
